Mission Statement/ Goal

Provide the Health Care community with the most diversified, well-trained individuals, assisting medical professionals in fulfilling their daily professional needs. Upon completion of the MRI Program, graduates are eligible to take the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) National Certification Examination.

Objectives of the Program

The MRI Technology Program goals and objectives are:
-    To create effective healthcare providers by training professional, competent MRI Technologists  for the health  
     care community.
-    To stimulate a life long pursuit of education in both healthcare and the student’s specific arenaof  interest.
-    To demonstrate knowledge of safety and infection control as defined by the CDC and OSHA.
-    To demonstrate knowledge of collection equipment, various types of additives used, special  precautions and
     substances that can interfere with chemical analysis of blood constituents.
-    To develop a critical thinking approach to the student’s academic learning.
-    To stimulate and enhance the creativity of individuals who may then make significant contribution to  their field of
     interest.
-    To develop interpersonal skills in communicating with the patient, medical and administrative      individuals, including
     doctors who will act as career supervisors.
-    To encourage a role for the student in community interaction, promoting both themselves and their career in a
      positive mien, which will lead to an enhanced understanding and respect from the      community at large.
-    To provide educational opportunities in MRI Technology to members of the community.
-    To help students acquire the necessary skills to practice proper patient care.
-    Offer continuing education opportunities to students, graduates, and technologists.

Admissions Requirements/ Prerequisites


To be considered for acceptance into the program, the applicant must meet the following criteria:
1.   The student must be 18 years of age or older
2.   Student must have graduated from high school, or earned a GED
3.   Pass the school’s entrance exam.
4.   Adult and Infant CPR/Healthcare provider
5.   Prerequisite courses: (These can be taken at IME and are included in tuition)
            Anatomy          Physiology
(Prerequisite courses must have been completed in the last 5 years with a passing grade)

Course Description

The MRI Technology program is a certificate program designed to provide excellence in MRI education. The student will receive didactic and clinical education. Approximate program length is 20 months Students spend twenty (20) hours per week attending didactic and laboratory training. After completion of the didactic work students receive forty (40) hours of clinical instruction per week. Classes are held Monday through Friday, 9am-1pm The student receives approximately 522 hours of didactic instruction and approximately 1000 hours of clinical education allowing them to apply the theory to practical use. The curriculum will give you the technical, clinical, and interpersonal skills necessary to succeed in this challenging field. Upon completion of the program, a certificate is awarded.

The didactic and clinical education is taught by a team of highly experienced faculty consisting of dedicated instructors, and physicians from various specialty areas. They are chosen for their commitment to teaching and clinical expertise. The faculty and staff are committed to provide the best possible educational environment and instruction to assure competency in all areas of the established curriculum.

Institute of medical education provides each student the opportunity to experience all that modern medicine has to offer. The program has many excellent clinical affiliates. Each facility has a complete array of state-of-the art equipment. During clinical rotations, students will gain experience in various medical facilities, as well as working with experienced medical technicians and physicians. Students are assigned to clinical rotations in hospitals and various outpatient centers in the community. The clinical internship helps students gain experience that prepare them for entry-level positions.

Health care continues to change at an ever- increasing rate, there continues to be a need for highly skilled professionals who can work in the physician's office, clinic, and hospital environment. The profession of medical assistant can be a career in itself or could be the stepping stone to other careers such as nursing or medical office manager. The advantages of the course are that it is a fast track program which helps you get started in your field of choice in (just three months) a couple of months. Upon completion of this program, students will have the training and experience necessary for the various areas of clinical medical health care. Included are the front and back office skills characteristic of the clinical medical professional, providing students the flexibility to pursue a variety of vocational avenues based upon individual interests.
